            A "V idicon Camera Tube"  or " Pick up Tube"  was used as a replacement of  CCD's (Charged coupled device) for converting an optical image into an electrical signal. It has an ability to store intensity information over the entire photosensitive area simultaneously on photoconductive surface. Diagram of a image dessector Parts of the Vidicon Camera Tube Cathode ray tube: It is a vacuum tube through which the beam of electrons are focused. Electrons are nothing but cathode rays. Photoconductive Target: It is a thin layer deposited on a transperent metal film. The target which is placed on the inner surface of the faceplate consists of three layers: 1) The transperent target electrode deposited directly onto the faceplate. 2) A dielectric layer. 3) A photoelectric layer facing on the electron gun that is located toward the back of the camera tube.
